Full List Of Nigerian Musicians: Both Present & Past Artists

Nigeria is a nation blessed with talents and this has been the reason why artists from Nigeria are highly respected and are the most listened to in Africa.

You must have listened to some cool lyrics or melodies in the past of which you couldn’t remember who sang the song.

This is the main reason why we have compiled the list of Nigerian musicians both past and present, you will definitely find that artist on this list.

If you check our blog categories you will find a lot about Nigerian celebrities most especially those in Nollywood and those in the Music Industry, everything about entertainment is on a different level in Nigeria.

We also have some international celebrities we have written about, but years past a lot of musicians have come and gone, some are still alive while we also have some that are late.

New music artists are also rushing into the industry and their music performance has been top-notch, you see why Nigeria is a blessed country?

The musicians we will be mentioning here have built a very strong reputation over the years since they have been in the entertainment industry. Some only came to release singles, some dropped just an album and we never heard anything about them while some have managed to be on reign for decades.

This list isn’t made for the rich ones, everybody can’t be rich and some didn’t venture into music for money but with the likes of King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Bright Chimezie, Onyeka Owenu, Fela Anikolapkokuti, Sir Shina Peters, Orlando Owo and so on have managed to perform both locally and internationally so they have done well for themselves as professional musicians.

The hard work and contributions of those musicians mentioned above have seen Nigeria move beyond other countries in Africa and their works are what most of the new musicians base their career on now.

What most of the present musicians have been omitting from their music is the morals the lyrics portray, the old musicians have been able to instill morals as their lyrics is so meaningful filled with wise words coupled with the evergreen musical instrument that accompanies their songs they were able to reach beyond the shores of Africa.

Most of those wonderful lyrics are missing from the new songs we listen to now, though some f the new musicians also have good lyrics and nice dancing steps but not as those of old.

In this new century, Nigerian musicians love to utilize the western method of music and have digressed out of the Nigerian cultural songs which are rich in values.

It is very difficult for you to make a sense out of the lyrics our new musicians dish out as they copy the American method of singing thereby making so much noise instead of sense.
