Olamide Gbenga Adedeji popularly known as Olamide is a Nigerian, singer and songwriter. Most of his fans also refer to him as Olamide Badoo or Badoo Sneh. Olamide is a Nigerian versatile artist because he not only sings and rap in English but also in the Yoruba language”. Olamide is loved by many particularly those on the “street” because his songs relate to them.

Born 15th March 1989, Olamide grew up in the Bariga area of Lagos state. Olamide began his music career in the year 2000 however, he became well known in 2011 when he released his song”Eni Duro“. The rapper began his tertiary education at the Tai Solarin University of Education in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state before he dropped out due to his inability to pay his fees.

After his emergence into the Nigerian music space, Olamide founded his own record label “YBNL” which is an acronym for “Yahoo boy no laptop. The record label was founded in 2012.

The record label has so far produced so many young and talented singers since it was founded. While many have moved on, some artists are currently still on the label.

Some of the artists that used to be on the label are Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Chinko Ekun, Victoh, Xino, Lyta, Davolee, Picaxo, Temmi Ovwasa. Artists currently on YBNL are Fireboy DML, Dj Eni money, B banks, and Badoo himself. Producers on the label are Pheelz, Young John, B banks, and Vinkihill.

Olamide has released many songs that his fans both home and abroad have enjoyed. He has also featured on songs of other artists and vice versa. The Eni Duro crooner has gotten so many nominations and awards since he came into the limelight. In 2013, he won awards for Best Collabo (Ghost Mode by Phyno featuring Olamide), Best Indigenous Artiste, Best Album of the Year, Best Rap Act of the Year, Music Video of the Year. In the same year, his music video “Durosoke” was nominated in the Nigeria Music Video Awards for Video of the Year and Best Afro Hip Hop Video.

At the headies awards in the same year, he won the following awards Best Rap Album, Album of the Year Award, Best Street Hip-Hop Artiste. Meanwhile, he was nominated for other awards like Lyricist on the Roll, Artiste of the Year, Best Rap Single, and Song of the Year.

In 2014, he won the following awards; Channel O Music Video Award for Most Gifted West, The Headies 2014 Award for Album of the Year, The Headies 2014 Award for Best Rap Album.

Olamide has been in a relationship for a long time with Adebukunmi Aisha Suleiman. In March 2018, Olamide proposed to Adebukunmi who had been with him even before he became famous. Reports say Olamide got married to Bukunmi in a secret ceremony.

Olamide welcomed their first son Maximiliano Adedeji in 2015.

In 2019, he welcomed his second son, Tunrepin Myles Adedeji with the same lady.

It was also rumored that in 2019 the singer was expecting a child with an On-Air personality, Maria Okan. The OAP eventually had the child which happened to be a baby girl.

Controversies

Olamide was rumored to be having an affair with Beat Fm On-air personality, Maria Okan even while he was still with his present wife, Bukunmi. The relationship between the artist and the OAP resulted in a pregnancy. Reports say the singer gave her a huge amount to terminate the pregnancy, however, Maria didn’t.

The singer has also been dragged by social media users. He was dragged when the visuals of his song “Wonma” sexualized nurses. In the video, nurses should be seen dancing seductively and performing sexual acts on their male patients. However, Olamide has since deleted the video from his social media page.

The Nigerian Rapper has also been signed by his former Signee, Temmie ovwasa. Temmis called out Olamide on Twitter accusing him of crippling her career.
