OPINION: COVID-19 Lockdown May Not End Any Time Soon In Lagos State:

It is no longer news that Nigerian states, except for twelve others have recorded cases of dreadful global Coronavirus pandemic which started months ago in Wuhan, in China.

The fearful virus has so far affected the country’s economy and as well as restrain citizens to their house doorposts.

However, it was all joy on Monday night for Lagosians after the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as usual announced that it has recorded thirty-eight new cases of Coronavirus pandemic in the country with Lagos State having a zero record of the novel virus.

The development that put smiles on the face of many Lagosians, giving a fresh hope of victory to the state citizens and Nigerians at large.

Meanwhile, the state has been leading with the highest record of the dreadful virus since it emerged in the country.

The hope of getting out of the lingering lockdown was however cut short on Tuesday as the state records fifty-nine new cases of COVID-19.

The NCDC reports on Tuesday, April 21 that Nigeria has recorded one-hundred-and-seventeen new cases of COVID-19, with Lagos state taking the larger portion while the Federal Capital Territory follows with higher numbers of affected persons.

Looking at the statistic of the novel virus in Nigeria, Lagos State with the highest and alarming record may want to extend the earlier issued lockdown due to the escalation of the COVID-19 cases been recorded.

However, the state government might want to come up with a modality in fighting the pandemic by relaxing the lockdown so that residents in the state can make some small money to cater for themselves as the government may not be able to meet their needs as needed.

Meanwhile, as at 11:25 pm on April 21, 2020, Nigeria has a total of 782 confirmed cases of COVID-19 disease while with 197 persons discharged and 25 death records, 9jatoday understands.
