Resident Doctors in Nigeria have threathened to embark on a nationwide strike beginning from Monday, September 7.

In a statement signed by the President of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Dr Aliyu Sokomba, its secretary, Dr Biliqis Mohammad and publicity secretary, Dr Egbogu Stanley, the association says it would commence the strike after the 21-day ultimatum it gave to the Federal Government expired on August 17.

The Doctors are demanding for the payment of outstanding April/May and June Covid-19 inducement to health workers, hazard allowance and prompt payment of salary shortfalls of 2014, 2015 and 2016.

NARD had embarked on an indefinite strike in June 15, however, the strike was suspended on June 22 after the Federal Government and other stakeholders in the health sector intervened.
