A few moments after it was reported that Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has gone into self-isolation, a fresh report reaching us at 9jatoday confirms that the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Frank Okiye, has tested positive for coronavirus.

According to the report which was confirmed in a press conference in Benin on Wednesday, Edo state Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu noted that Okiye is the recorded case earlier disclosed by the state government.

On the other hand, 9jatoday understands that Governor Obaseki had made recent close contact with his Bauchi State counterpart, Senator Bala Muhammed and Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, who have both tested positive for coronavirus.
