Headteachers, Others Suspended In Oyo Over Illegal Fees

Oyo State Government has suspended some primary school headteachers and their assistants over illegalities, and other questionable act carried out in their various schools, despite the reiteration of the free education policy of state administration.

9jatoday understands that the suspension notice was contained in a directive issued on Monday by, Dr Nureni Adeniran, the Executive Chairman of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board.

According to the directive, 13 headteachers, others are been suspended over illegal fees extortion and various misconduct.

This media platform understands that the order was given after the board chairman and his team carried out an inspection in some schools in Ibadan.

Reacting to the suspension of the class teachers, Adeniran noted that, “Apart from the illegal collection of fees from pupils, the suspended teachers were also found culpable of insubordination and refusal to comply with posting instructions. The suspended teachers will face a disciplinary panel.”

“It was during our tour of schools that we discovered the failure of some teachers to comply with posting instructions. Some of them were collecting illegal money from the pupils, despite the reiteration of the free education policy of this administration.”

“This will serve as a deterrent to saboteurs among the headteachers in the state. They should know henceforth know that the government will not tolerate indiscipline.”

Meanwhile, 9jatoday had reported earlier that merciless thugs have finally released a local government chairman who was abducted for hours but gets him hospitalized.

According to a report made available to newsmen, the Chairman of Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State, Samuel Aderemi, who was abducted by some political thugs has been hospitalized after his release, 9jatoday understands.
