Pineapple is edible tropical multiple fruits consisting of many fruitlets fused together. It is also known as Ananas comosus and belongs to the family of Bromeliaceae.

Pineapple is a perennial drought tolerant plant and bears either of long, oval or cylindrical fruits. They have exceptional juiciness and a vibrant tropical flavor that balances its aromatic smell and sweet taste.

This fruit is parthenocarpic and usually cultivated seedless. Pineapples are rich in thiamin (vitamin B1), proteolytic enzymes (bromelain), fats, sugars (glucose,  sucrose) mineral salts (iodine, magnesium,  manganese, potassium,  calcium, phosphorus, sulfur, iron).  and high fiber content ( cellulose).

Pineapples are of many health benefits ranging from digestive benefits to anti-inflammatory,  antioxidant, protection, and immune response. Pineapples contain dietary fibers which are essential in keeping the intestines healthy.  Indigestion occurs as a result of undigested proteins. Well, Pineapples are able to break down these proteins with the enzyme bromelain and thereby helping indigestion.

High amounts of pineapples are very good at suppressing asthma development due to the content of the beta carotene. Beta carotenes in apples if taken in high quantities are also protective against prostate cancer.
