Mercy Johnson was born on the 28th of august 1984 in Lagos, Lagos state in Nigeria to Daniel Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson. She is a native of Okene in Kogi state and is the fourth of seven siblings.
She lived in Calabar state where she began her primary school before relocating to Lagos state and completing her primary education at Nigerian navy primary school.
She later relocated to rivers state where she attended the rivers state secondary school and the Nigerian navy secondary school for her secondary education. After her secondary education, she began to apply for acting roles as her interest in acting had already grown.
She was accepted for a role as the maid and that was the beginning of her career. She went on to feature in movies like hustlers and 30 days in Atlanta which really brought her talent into the eyes of the Nigerian public and Nollywood at large.
She received her first major award in 2009 which included the best actress in a supporting role at the 5th African movies awards, the best-supporting actress at the 2009 best of Hollywood awards (both were for her role in Live to remember), and best actress award at the 2009 Nigeria entertainment award.
